Instructions for the Operationof theUS Prospector S-1 Finishing SystemS-1The S-1 is a finishing system that can separate gold from black sand concentrates at recovery rates that not even commercial shaking tables costing thousands of dollars can achieve without multiple screenings and multiple re-runs. Assembly:The S-1 comes complete and ready to run with the exception of the steel legs. Slide the steel legs down through the holes in the back of the S-1 and tighten the set screws as shown in picture. Setting up:Set a medium mortar mixing tub or other similar container on a flat surface. Rest the S-1 over the tub. Fill tub 3/4’s full with water adding a table spoon of “Gold Anchor” detergent (supplied) to the water. Lower a gold pan into the tub to catch tailings. Adjust the legs until the sluice has 5.5 inches of drop (from the lower back edge to the lower front edge. ) Using a freshly charged 12 volt battery or much better a 12 volt battery charger, connect the positive and negative clips. If the battery that you are using looses power while your running it will effect recovery. Cleaning concentrates:This is a finishing sluice! It is designed to process black sand concentrates. You can screen bank run gravel down to 1/8” minus and feed it to the S-1 to sample for gold and you can expect very accurate gold recovery. Yet to achieve recoveries approaching 100% of the visible gold, a water recycling set up is necessary with a detergent in the water. Our secret detergent is by far the best and will produce the best recovery. Set the vibratory feeder over the S-1 as far back in the sluice as possible without dumping concentrates on the back cover. Load up to a shovel full of 1/8th inch minus (minus 1/16th feeds the best) concentrates into the hopper. Set the water dripper to a very slow drip. (The vibration is what moves the concentrates not the water. The dripper just keeps the concentrates from drying out and stopping.) If you are unfamiliar with vibratory feeders then practice over a gold pan until you can get a steady, damp concentrate coming from the feeder. The S-1 finishing sluice is capable of the best recoveries we’ve ever heard of if these notes are followed carefully. Proper S-1 Operation:Please follow these instructions exactly!
Feed all of your concentrates at a slow steady rate until finished. This will account for the majority of your gold. The next step is to move the vibratory feeder out of the way. Pick up the S-1 sluice while it is still running and set the end over a clean five gallon bucket. Resting the end on the bucket start slapping the bottom of the sluice. Continue to slap the bottom of the sluice while slowly raising the sluice to a steeper and steeper angle. This will wash all of what is remaining out of the sluice. Set the S-1 sluice back on your recycling tub and unclip the 12 volt pump from the battery. Take the two or three tablespoons of concentrates out of the five gallon bucket and save them for the next clean up. This two or three tablespoons of concentrate will be run with the next batch of black sand and will re concentrate the small amount of gold left over without ever having to deal with separating it. If you would like to extract the gold that is in the super concentrated two or three table spoons, then pan the small amount in the tub with the detergent. But saving the small amount of black sand for the next run is by far the most effective way.
